Also, this series is probably going to take the rest of the year to get through.
Just a quick note to alleviate some confusion, since I’ve also been neglecting to mention it on a regular basis. The way I’m handling the Final ’90s Countdown, the same was I held the previous Final (’80s) Countdown, is by tallying the votes for all those nominated, and then discussing in alphabetical order all the single vote getters, then moving on to discuss all the two-vote getters, and so on ’til we read the #1 title.
As of right now, we are still in the middle of the many, many titles that have only received a single vote. So, if you voted for something and feel like it should have shown up already, well, maybe it got a second or third vote and will be in the next batch!
In the future I will try to emphasize the number of votes the title under discussion received, to help everyone keep track of where we are. And as I said when we started, ain’t no shame in a title just getting one or two votes. That just shows how much good stuff was out there for everyone to read!
Okay, thanks for reading, pals, and we’ll be back at it next week. (And hopefully I’ll switch the corner box and “…since 1969” tagline too.)
“IT’S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN! DOO DOO DOO!!”
Re: Your Bluesky posting on a button pertaining to a proposed Sgt. Rock film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger–it is just as well it never happened as he would have been a bad casting choice.
It looks like Colin Farrell was recently cast for the role, but the film has been cancelled.
Personally, I think Tom Hardy would make a great Sgt. Rock.

Well yeah- as big as Arnie is, who could they get to play Bulldozer???
“Sgt. Rock”.
My casting choice for that is now impossible, same as my casting choice for Jonah Hex- a young Clint Eastwood!
So what you’re saying is this is the chance for us all to change our votes? Okay lads, you heard him, vote early and often!
@Snark Shark
Mainly it would have been absurd for Sgt. Rock to have Arnold’s Austrian accent while fighting Nazis during WW II–beyond the fact that Rock wasn’t a body builder.
If they had gone ahead with a Sgt. Rock film back then, maybe James Caan could have been a decent Sgt. Rock. But I think Tom Hardy has a Sgt. Rock-type face with a lot of character, and he is a versatile actor. But it could be fun to cast for Bulldozer, Ice Cream Soldier, and various other members of Easy Co.
It could be very interesting if DC/Warner Bros. branched out and we got a bunch of DC War genre films: The Losers; Unknown Soldier; Haunted Tank; even a live action Creature Commandos would be cool (in addition to the animated iteration). And Enemy Ace, for WW I.
Then they could go for a whole 1930s adventure film franchise as well, in the spirit of Indiana Jones, but utilizing Hop Harrigan of Cliff Cornwall as the pilot, Slam Bradley as the detective, Speed Saunders as the reporter–or maybe a Lois Lane analog character so there would be a female reporter, and other late ’30s/early ’40s DC (or Fawcett, or Quality, like Lance O’Casey and the Golden Arrow) characters who were intrepid reporters, detectives, cowboys, sailors, and adventurers, in a series of slam-bang, high flying, globe-trotting action films.

True!
“Hey- are we sure this guy’s not a GERMAN?”
