DC Comics actually started it all in the late ’70s with Teen Titans West…
I remember being disappointed by #1 a little bit because I thought it would be so cool if the Submariner, Cyclops, Puck, and ROM were all on the same team.
The early ones were cool! Quality varies after that. I just read Vol. 1 of the giant hardcover WCA compendium!

When I was a kid, I got a box full of West Coast Avengers/Avengers West Coast from a local used bookstore for cheap and devoured it, so I have a real soft spot for that series.
Still disappointed Puck didn’t join the West Coast Avengers. It could have spared him from Bill Mantlo’s run on Alpha Flight.
If they’re not fighting crime in Sonoma or Napa, they’re actually Sparkling New Warriors.
