“Then…KOREA”
From Battle Stories #5 (September 1952), here is one heck of a transition:
I mean, holy cow, just look at that panel:
And then, of course, I started thinking about what other comics could benefit from this very same sudden transition, like Adam 12 #4 (August 1974):
Or perhaps Peanuts #2 (2012):
This is what I think about, late at night, when there is no one around to stop me.
You sir, are the undisputed heavyweight champion of the visual non-sequiter.
POOONG! Is my new favorite sound effect.
You need to do a few more of these. Maybe just spring one on us every so often because it’s just too good not too.
I want to see that panel in Before Watchmen.
And Swamp Thing.
I see this going places. Funny places.
Yes. More, please. Pooong, indeed.
“Then – KOREA” is a far better piece of writing than anything I’ve seen in Justice League.
When I first read it I thought he was literally afraid there was a yellow streak running up his back. Like, a skunk stripe.
So, did he show steel in his spine, or did the yellow streak glow through his uniform?
Can’t believe I missed “Then Korea” until your year end wrap up. Totally stealing this image… with your permission of course?
