Aside from Asgard apparently being in New York, I’m having a hard time believing that there actually were “nay-sayers” to John Romita’s art. I wonder what those people would have thought about some of the artists Spidey was afflicted with all those years later.

Unless, of course, these people were bothered by being able to see Peter Parker’s eyes through the mask:
